Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz ranging from pale to dark purple. The ancient Greeks and Romans wore amethyst and made drinking vessels of it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication. Amethyst is the traditional birthstone for February. Metaphysically, it has calming, even sedative energy. It facilitates spirituality and contentment and is none as a stone of stability, strength, and peace. Excellent for meditation, stress and pain relief. Enhances psychic ability.
