Depicting the image of Baphomet, the complex symbol of creation and the properties of the universe, this 1 1/4 inch diameter amulet is solid bronze.
Baphomet, or the Goat of Mendes, is a mythical beast created to symbolize the metaphysical properties of creation and the laws that govern the universe created in 1856 by occultist Eliphas Levi as part of his 2 volume "Dogma and the Rituals of High Magic".
This pentacle, like all pentacles or pentagrams, is a symbol of the five elements from which the cosmos is made: Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit. It is one of the oldest symbols of spirituality, sacred guidance and protection. Here it is inverted which some say gives it a negative power. The truth is that it offers protection from negative energy, hexes and curses and is a reminder of the hermetic concept "As Above, So Below" with energy flowing back into the Earth.
While some Satanists have adopted Baphomet as a symbol of the Devil, he is not a demon or devil. He has also been used as an image of God and the Horned God of Wicca Lore as well as a symbol of strength and endurance.
The goat is a symbol of physical strength, endurance, surefootedness, and primal drive. It's use in this amulet is said to grant strength and determination to its owner.
Other symbolism incorporated in Baphomet includes polarity, male and female energy, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, and physical versus spiritual world, and more.
Hand Cast in bronze, it comes on a story card with 33 inch long waxed black neck cord. 1 1/4 inches in diameter

Bronze |
Bronze is a metal alloy consisting primarily of copper, usually with tin as the main additive. Bronze was especially suitable for use in boat and ship fittings prior to the wide employment of stainless steel owing to its combination of toughness and resistance to salt water corrosion. In the twentieth century, silicon was introduced as the primary alloying element, creating an alloy with wide application in industry and the major form used in contemporary statuary. Aluminum is also used for the structural metal aluminum bronze. It is also widely used for cast bronze sculpture and jewelry. Since it is primarily copper, it can take on a dark greenish patina over time and is often coated with a protective finish to slow this process. |
